  1. Understand the role of PFT in the clinical diagnosis and management of children with chronic lung diseases, neuromuscular disorders, and chest wall deformities
  2. Understand the technical acceptability and repeatability criteria when performing spirometry in children
  3. Interpret PFT reports, including spirometry, plethysmography and DLCO
  4. Perform accurate spirometry using portable, office-based spirometry after attending a hands-on session

Dr. Amal achieved her fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Canada. She has Certificate in Infection Control (CIC) from the Board of Infection Control & Epidemiology; certificate in Patient Safety & Quality Improvement and in global health from Dalla Lana School of Public Health the Centre for international Health in the University of Toronto (UFT).

She received Dr. Susan King Award and the winner of the SASAKAWA global health price for 2021. She is a scientific author with many published research papers.*

Dr. Al-Maani is an affiliated trainer in Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB), a member of clinicalmicrobiology educational committee and head of research groups.

She participated as an external faculty in developing online training modules for OMSB and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine for the online AMR training courses.

She was a core member in the national response team for COVID- 19 pandemic, Global Communityof Practice in IPC, the supervisory committee of Gulf CDC, the Global Leaders Group for AMR (GLG-AMR) and an emerging leader for the international society of infectious diseases (ISID).

She is currently working on her personal capacity as technical advisor for WHO’s Strategic Infectious Hazards advisory team.

Dr. Abdulhakim Al Rawas is a Senior Consultant in the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Hematopoietic stem cell transplant and assistant head of department and clinical coordinator, Child Health Department, UMC and College of Medicine and Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, Sultan Qaboos University, Muscat, Oman.

He is a founding member and president of the Omani Society of Hematology, board member of Oman cancer association, Member of the East Mediterranean regional advisory board of St Jude Global Alliance for childhood cancer and the past president of the Pediatric Oncology East and Mediterranean (POEM) Group.

He is currently the chairman of the Pediatric Education Committee in Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB) as well as member of OMSB accreditation committee. He has 50 peer reviewed journal publications and several abstracts and presentations in both international and local meetings in the field of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Hematopoietic stem cell transplant.

Dr. Sondus AlSharidah is a leading expert in pediatric hematology, oncology, and stem cell transplantation. She is the Head of Pediatric Hematology Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation at NBK Children’s Hospital in Kuwait and serves as the Director of the Pediatric SCT Program in Kuwait.

With extensive experience in clinical practice, policy development, and research, Dr. AlSharidah has pioneered numerous advancements in pediatric transplantation and gene therapy in Kuwait, including the establishment of pediatric allogeneic bone marrow transplantation and the introduction of gene therapy for sickle cell disease and thalassemia.

A dedicated educator and researcher, she actively leads and participates in international studies and is a key figure in medical education, organizing annual conferences and workshops on pediatric hematology, stem cell therapy, and therapeutic apheresis. She is also a member of several international medical societies, contributing to the advancement of hematology and transplantation globally.
